384 - Sparky384

We are about 40 students from John Randolph Tucker High School in Richmond, Virginia. Our mission is to provide a fun and stimulating problem solving experience for every team member. We are dedicated to designing and implementing an innovative approach to the overall FIRST challenge. We utilize gracious professionalism during each phase of the season. In addition our alliance with the local community helps provide ample opportunities for students, mentors, sponsors and parents.

How long have we been competing?
2006 will be our seventh year competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Every year has brought challenges as well as amazing accomplishments. Each year a new precedent has been set, and Team 384 continues to meet that goal. Last year's goal was to compete and win National Chairman's. Even though the national goal was not met, we feel confidant of our chances this upcoming year with our win at the NASA/VCU Regional last year.

What is Sparky?
Sparky is the name of our robot. Each year a new robot is designed, built and tested by our students and mentors. This year's robot is Sparky 7.0, each year brings a new number to add to Sparky.

What's with the tiger paw?
The tiger paw and lightning bolt are our way of representing our school's mascot at J.R. Tucker, as well as Sparky, our robot. The tiger brings with it the colors of our uniforms, robot and other items that are team related. We feel that by using our school's mascot and our robot's name we are unifying the school in the process of building and maintaining our FIRST Robotics Team.
