offering two, merit-based scholarships, each for $2,000, to high school seniors who have
participated on a FIRST team during their junior or senior year.
This scholarship was created in memory of Denice D. Denton, dean of the UW College of
Engineering from 1996-2005. She was the first woman to become the dean of a major research
university. She is remembered not only for her fierce passions and transformational leadership,
but for her ready wit, warmth and compassion. Her legacy, they say, lies in an entire generation
of faculty, staff and students inspired by her vision and commitment.
This scholarship may be utilized for any pre-engineering or engineering course of study at the
University of Washington. The scholarship is renewable up to four years, contingent upon
maintaining good academic standing. Each recipient
